Patricia UrquiolaBudri Artworks are pictorial interpretations, made of marble, onyx and semi-precious stones, through which designers express, on a large scale, new forms of artistic language. Like paintings, Artworks are true works of art for their uniqueness, research and complexity.
The Earthquake 5.9 collection refers to the May 2012 Emilia earthquake, which affected many companies in the area, including Budri. Earthquake Collection consists of marble and Onyx furnishings and wall coverings, made entirely from hundreds of fragments of surviving slabs, to breathe life back into what was destroyed in seconds.
Marble fragments and semi-precious stones from the amazing and precious slabs that survived the earthquake are "reborn" in the large and majestic Earthqauke 5.9 artwork. Precious marbles and onyxes are juxtaposed with tangerine-colored resin partitions to contrast the natural material with the man-made material.
The large lenticular-effect decoration covers the wall in alternating fields while part of the inlay slips to the ground like a "kilim" rug.
