After three years of tireless construction, the Abu Dhabi Mosque (the second largest in the world after the Medina Mosque in Saudi Arabia) was opened in 2007. This project embodies the quintessence of Italian creativity and taste, combining various types of marble, inlays and mosaics in an elegant floral motif that gives the imposing building an original, modern and refined look. The square in front of the building was entirely paved with the reproduction of a gigantic floral bouquet, made of 4,000 inlay and mosaic panels (2.10 x 2.10 m) over a total surface area of about 17,000 m2, making it the world's largest floral floor inlay. For the interior walls, Budri created 3,600 m2 of polychrome marble inlays with a marmorino plaster finish; the contrasting matt surface further enhances the extraordinary brilliance of the marble inlay, creating a high-gloss effect. Precious stone such as Lapis lazuli and Sodalite were used for the decoration of the flowers and branches.
