Aware of the intrinsic value of the material, Budri has consistently invested in the search for solutions that protect the environment and natural resources. It does so through a process that combines research and awareness, and which aims for a more sustainable approach.
THE STRATEGY: BUDRI SLIM
Reducing the weight of marble
The Budri Research and Development Department explores innovative technologies, techniques and composites that protect the value of the material. Specifically, the R&D team has developed the Budri SLIM®: a sophisticated, patented, cutting-edge technological process that reduces the weight of marble. This technology makes it possible to limit the impact of quarries, preserving the geological structure and shape of the environment, as well as reducing pollution caused by transportation of the material. The Budri SLIM® has been given a HORIZON 2020 Research Programme Award on behalf of the European Union.
New certifications
For years, our Research & Development division has been dedicated to creating innovative technologies, techniques and composites that preserve the value of the material. Reducing the weight of marble to simplify the process of working with thinner pieces means minimizing quarrying and reducing the impact on the ecosystem and its geomorphological composition. Equally important is the reduction of pollution associated with the transportation of materials. The company’s commitment to sustainability continues as it constantly strives to obtain new certifications, such as ISO 14001 and SA8000.
